Preparing your cat for showing

Your cat must be in good physical condition. This involves a good diet, plenty of exercise & ensuring it does not become over-weight. Preparation should begin weeks before the show with daily grooming. A long haired cat will need a bath 5 days before being shown.

A quick checklist of items is given on the right.

• Eyes clean and clear;
• Ears cleaned gently with cotton wool buds;
• Sharp tips on the front claws should be clipped with a proper nail clippers;
• Vaccinations need to be up to date and need to have been administered at least 14 days before the show;
• Bring your vaccination certificate as admission to the show will be refused without it;
• Your cat should be used to being handled by strangers;
• Prepare the equipment you will need on show day.
